What do we do?

Our charge is as simple and as complicated as understanding student learning at Duke so that administrators, faculty, staff, students, and all other change agents can fully realize James B. Duke’s original charge to “develop our resources, increase our wisdom, and promote human happiness.” The Office of University Assessment (OUA) partners with college leaders, department and program administrators, and instructors to enhance the study of teaching and learning. Through consultations and independent initiatives, OUA develops data resources, methodologies, and tools for academic assessment and educational research, including course evaluations.
